Curious

Its ironic when you think about it: it is now politically correct to use B.C.E and C.E when dating historical events instead of B.C and A.D. The reasoning for this is to take secular history from a non Jeudo-Christian outlook so as to bring about an unbiased approach. However, the standard for this system is still before the birth of Christ (Before Christian Era) and after (Christian Era). So technically, its still a very Christian-influenced style of dating with the intent of not being so.

Kinda dumb, in'it?

you should use the roman years instead
the year right now would be MMDCCVXI Ab Urbe Condita
which is...2761 Ab Urbe Condita (AUC) "from the founding of the City (rome)"

no one will get confused...

Ely: I thought it was "before common era" as well. But really, what is "common era"? The excuse is that "common era" means the year 0 on the Gregorian Calendar system, which really makes no sense. The aboriginal people of the America's (Mayans, Aztecs, Incan etc) as well as the eastern Asian civilizations all had their own calendar systems, some even before the Romans. Therefore, to use an INTERNATIONAL dating system that reckons a Roman calender that has the year 0 starting at the rough birth of Christ and calling it "common" is an oxymoron, really. Its not "common" its pro-western and, therefore, still influenced by Jeudo-Christianity.

NTG: Hahaha...I'm quite sure of it. Personally though, I prefer Chaldean and Mayan calenders as they were quite accurate in their numerological forecasting.

Romans had no such thing as a 0 when it comes to numbers...so they had no year 0....

Well whichever, the switching of years from before the birth of Christ to the time after his birth. We just use the year 0 because its a nice, convenient turning point to use.

And I know its you Nic. :) How you doing?
